CMS01 Be the Change Club – The goal of the Be the Change Club is to make CMS a place where everyone feels safe, valued, and celebrated. To help students understand and accept everybody in the building, the club will raise awareness of diverse celebrations. From Challenge Day to encouraging random kindness and courageous acts, the club will show the school that it feels good to show appreciation and pass on kindness. Together we can create a CMS that is good for everybody, so Be the Change!!

CMS02 Chess/Checkers Club – Students will share and improve their chess playing skills; additionally, they will learn basic movements of one or two types of Chinese Chess or Checkers. Beginners will learn how to play regular chess. Students will participate in class tournaments!

CMS03 Community Service Club – Do you like helping others? Do you want to earn community service hours? In the Community Service Club you will have the opportunity to pitch in and lend a hand in various ways. As stated by Anne Frank, “How wonderful it is that no one need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

CMS04 Gourmet Club – Students will prepare various types of food from appetizers to desserts and experience various types of cuisine from diverse cultures. There is a one-time fee of $15.00 due the first club meeting to help with the cost of groceries. Students who participated in the Fall session may NOT register for the Spring session.

CMS05 Hands Across the Water – This is a new international service and awareness club with a primary focus on fundraising for Community Middle School’s sister school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in central Africa. Membership is open to all grade levels. This club provides a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children on the other side of the globe.

CMS06 Cardio Fitness Club – The students will wear heart rate monitors while engaging in cardio-vascular activities. These activities may include treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals, exercise videos and more. This will help to increase students’ overall fitness levels.

CMS07 Table Tennis Club – Paddle away your afternoon playing Ping-Pong with friends. Enjoy creative round robin rallies, contests, matches, and tournaments. Students who participated in the Fall session may NOT register for the Spring session.

CMS 08 Environmental Club – Interested in learning more about our environment through activities such as hiking, birding, recycling, water quality testing, gardening, school beautification, etc.? The Environmental Club is designed to expand club members’ knowledge and awareness of the environment and current ecological issues affecting our society as well as the rest of the world.

CMS11 Paws for an Update -- A club for all middle school students who enjoy reading and writing. Each month we will publish a news letter covering various subjects including book and movie reviews, horoscopes, CMS news, etc.. Weekly meetings will be used to discuss, generate, and edit the articles for publication.

CMS12 Physical Fitness/Weightlifting Club -- This club will offer familiarization with the fitness equipment that is available to all here at CMS. Additionally, it will provide students the opportunity to reach a degree of fitness while also teaching proper weightlifting technique.
