2 - FILE STORAGE/ACCESS
Store files and handouts for your students to access on the web. 
NOTE:  A link to this location can be provided and utilized in conjunction with a TeacherWeb site.

– This site consists of directories (FOLDERS) containing documents that the students may download.

If you expect your students to access documents from home, make sure they have a compatible program.  Word and Excel are needed to open the documents below.   

 


 

CREATING YOUR OWN WEB SITE

To access your web space, you must do the following:

 

1.               Download, read, and agree to follow the specifications outlined below and on the Web Space Request form provided (LAST PAGE).

2.                Agree to attend (at your convenience) a short training session (30 minutes).

 

Once activated, your site will be as easily accessible as your H (Hamilton) Drive.  When you double-click on “My Computer,” it will appear as follows with your name.”  Keep in mind that unlike your Hamilton Drive, whatever you put on this new W: drive is LIVE on the web.   This means that anyone with the address has access! BE CAREFUL.

 

 

CONTENT

All subject matter on web pages should relate only to curriculum, instruction, and school-authorized activities.  Publishing personal pages for other individuals or organizations not directly affiliated with the District and/or pages to promote and outside business is prohibited

 

No personal student information can be posted with the exception of student work in which case the student’s first name may be used for project identification purposes - ONLY when written permission has been obtained by the parent/guardian.  (forms are available though my office).

 

Staff members who choose to utilize this service are responsible for maintaining their individual web pages.  Content within a staff member’s web folder is the responsibility of that staff member.  Pages should be checked monthly for dead links, appropriateness, up-to-date content and relevancy. Web pages may not contain objectionable material or point directly to objectionable material.

SITES WITH DEAD LINKS & OBVIOUSLY OUTDATED (more then 30 days) MATERIAL MAY BE REMOVED.  

External links should be district, school or curriculum related.  All pages with links pointing to web sites which reside and are maintained on outside servers must include a written disclaimer alerting users that the link points to an outside source. The following disclaimer should be used: This page contains links to outside sources.  The West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District is not responsible for any content housed/published on those sites. 

Web developers should be prepared to show documentation* that materials posted on their web pages are copyright free or permission to use other’s materials on their web page has been granted.  *Please retain print copies of documentation pertaining to copyright permission.

 

It is advisable that all pages contain copyright information.
One of the following two sample statements may be used:

Copyright Notice:  No portion of this page may be copied without permission of the web page author.  Contact ___________________ (include email address)

Copyright Notice:  This material may be freely copied.

 

ALL student work posted on the Internet must be accompanied by the following statement:
Copyright Notice: This student work is copyrighted and permission will not be granted for use.
